Legion thanks community for event

American Legion Post 41 wishes to thank the Carroll County community, especially our veterans, for their attendance at Point Park on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11. It was a chilly night but we thank everyone would agree that CSM (Ret.) Jimmy Supplee’s vision message and the high school patriotic entertainment was well worth the discomfort.

More specifically, we wish to thank the following organizations and persons for making the night possible: The News-Democrat, Dave Taylor; A Battery, 2/138th Kentucky Army National Guard; Carrollton City Council; County Judge Exec., Harold Tomlinson; Carrollton Mayor, Dwight Louden; police chief Mike Willhoite; Fire chief, Randy Tharp; Jailer Mike Humphrey; City Works Department, Ron Knight; Fair Board President Kevin Craig; High School Band Director Scott Brawner; High School Chorus Director Mary Ellis Coombs; Honor Guard Drill Instructor Joseph Dickerson; Boy Scout Troop 131; American Legion Post 41, Ladies Auxiliary; Clay Cable; Don Knox; Terry Cauley; and all others.

We would also like to thank those local businesses who gave donations to this worthy cause: Earl Floyd Ford, First National Bank, Carrollton Federal Bank, Farmer’s Bank of Milton, Kentucky Utilities Co., State Farm Insurance (Mark Smith), American Legion Riders, and Hometown Pizza.

Last, but by no means least, we wish to thank those in public office who were present: Michelle Combs representing U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis, Kentucky State Rep. Rick Rand and Kentucky State Sen. Ernie Harris for their attendance on this memorable night.
