CARROLLTON, Ky.—Leslie “John” Peelman, 72, died Saturday, April 28, 2012 at his residence in Carrollton.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave. in Carrollton with the Rev. David Dicken officiating. Interment will follow the service at the English Cemetery in Carrollton. Pallbearers will be members of the Jeff-Craig Fire Dept. from Vevay, Ind.

Mr. Peelman was born on April 6, 1940, in Lawrenceburg, Ind. He had lived in Kerman, Calif., Yuma, Ariz., Fort Wayne, Ind., Vevay, as well as Carrollton. He owned his own auto body shop in Vevay for many years. He was a member of the Vevay Church of Christ. He was a volunteer fireman at the Jeff Craig Volunteer Fire Department for approximately 20 years. He was a former Police Officer for the Town of Vevay for five years. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards and dice, camping and fishing. His hobbies were woodworking and refinishing furniture.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Chilton Meadows Peelman of Carrollton; sons, Leslie “Steven” Peelman (Jeanie Riggs) of Ghent, Ky., Mark Allen Peelman of Worthville, Ky., step-sons, Raymond (Sharon) Meadows, Joey (Geraldine) Meadows and William Meadows all of Carrollton, Carroll Meadows of Monticello, Geo.; a step-daughter, Diane Meadows of Carrollton; three brothers, Harold (Jerry) Peelman, Herbert Leon (Joan) Peelman and Richard Charles (Janie) Peelman all of Switzerland County, Ind.; two sisters, Lavern “Sissy” (Sonny) Wagner and Mary Lou Shaw both of Switzerland County;  three granddaughters; twenty eight step-grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; forty three step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Lee and Blanch Ellen Romans Peelman; brothers, Robert Lee Peelman and Kenneth Peelman, who died at infancy; a nephew, William Dwayne Peelman; a niece, Karen Peelman Scudder; two step-sons, John Mike Meadows and Ricky Meadows; and three step-grandsons, John Meadows, Davey Robbins and Toby Abbott.
