Life is based on seedtime, just as it is with gardens

-A A +A

As we see the snow going away from our landscapes, we are reminded that spring is coming.

After one of the coldest and greatest number of snowfalls we’ve seen in years, we are encouraged that spring is around the corner.

Springtime means a lot of things. Changes in the weather, longer daylight hours and more activity outdoors. It also means we are going to put out our gardens, reseed our lawns, plant our crops and get ready for summer.

God’s word has a lot to say about seeds. In fact, his entire kingdom is based on “seedtime and harvest.”

This law was put into effect when God created the earth.  Genesis 1:11-12 “And God said ‘Let the earth bring forth grass, the hills yielding seed and the fruit tree yielding after its kind, whose seed is in itself; upon the earth’ and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after its kind; and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself.  And God saw it was good.”

God’s method of creation and reproduction continued on with Noah after the great flood. Genesis 8:22 says that while the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will not cease.

This is what God has chosen for this planet. And it will remain that way as long as the earth is in existence.

Your life is a seed. It was planted on this earth to bring a harvest. Your children are the result of you. Everything produces after its own kind. That is why our lives, our actions, our words all are seeds planted and will produce a harvest.

Jesus said in Mark 4 that the kingdom of God is like a man planting a seed into the ground and it grows and bears fruit.   God’s word is called seed, planted in our hearts and, over time and in due process, it produces a harvest.

Good seed, good harvest. Bad seed, bad harvest. If we would allow our lives to be filled with God’s word and instruction, and begin to believe and declare what God says about you and your circumstances, we would see positive change.

God spoke his desires and then creation followed. You are God’s children, created in his image (Genesis 1:26). You and I can begin to believe, act and talk like our Father. What will happen will be just like raising a crop, s garden or a child. In due time, we will have a harvest – good or bad.

It’s our choice. Let’s get busy planting our garden and fields with good seed and, in our spiritual lives, there is no better seed than God’s word. It will be well worth your time to invest in God’s seed.  The results will blow your mind.
