Attorney Marc A. Bryant of 521 Highland Ave., Carrollton has been suspended by the Kentucky Bar Association for non-payment of dues, effective Wednesday, December 10.
Bryant owes $220 in dues plus a $50 late for a total of $270. He will also be required to pay a $250 filing fee if he applies for restoration in less than five years, according to Amy Carman, Director of Communications with Kentucky Bar Association in Frankfort.
Dues were requested in July for the fiscal year July1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. Bryant received the bill for dues in July and several reminders which went unanswered according to Carman.
Bryant is not legally allowed to practice law during the suspension and Carman said it is impossible to say how long the suspension will last.
Bryant’s suspension will remain in effect until all fines and fees are paid in full and he has applied and been approved to resume the practice of law. Every applicant must go before a Board of Review and decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.
The Supreme Court of Kentucky ruled that Bryant and 48 other attorneys across the Commonwealth were suspended for non-payment of bar association dues this year.
The Bar also suspended 47 other lawyers for nonpayment.
