The contract clearing streams in the Mill Creek area of Carroll County has been awarded to Luhn and Oak Construction Co. of Carrollton.
Carroll County Judge-Executive Harold “Shorty” Tomlinson said recently that Luhn and Oak had the low bid on the project at $107, 558. Three bids were received for the project. Other bids were Hale Construction Co. of Williamstown at $212,652 and Mullins Enterprises of Pike County at $151,300.
The work will clear the stream to help with the flow of water during heavy rains to reduce the risk of flooding.
The bids have been submitted to the National Resource Conservation Service for their approval. The agency provides the majority of the funding for the project.
Tomlinson said he is now awaiting the authority to proceed. The project is expected to be complete by the first week of June.
