MADISON, Ind. - Tri Kappa Sorority’s biennial Tour of Homes is set for Oct. 12-14, offering individuals the opportunity to tour eight private homes and historic buildings not ordinarily open for public viewing. Hosts will guide individuals through the homes, detailing items of interest and the history of each home. Included on the tour this year are homes of various architectural styles. All proceeds from the tour are used for local scholarships and other philanthropic projects.
“The Tri Kappa Tour of Homes is a wonderful opportunity to see the inside of a home that has always attracted you from the outside,” stated Marta Belt, co-chairperson for the upcoming Tour of Homes in historic Madison, Indiana. “The homes on the tour range in style from Federal to Italianate to Greek Revival to a lovely ranch with magnificent views of the Ohio River and an outstanding regional art collection.” Tri Kappa Sorority has sponsored the biennial tour of homes since 1950.
Madison, which dates back to 1809, is located on the Ohio River mid-way between Cincinnati, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky. All but one of the homes on the tour are located within the Madison Historic District, which has been recently designated as a National Historic Landmark. It is one of the largest National Historic Landmark Districts in the nation with its 1,600 historic buildings stretched over nearly 2,000 acres.
Hours of the tour are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST on Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 13 and noon to 5 p.m. EST on Sunday, Oct. 14. Advance tickets are $12.50 for adults and $5 for children between five and ten years old. They may be purchased by calling (1-800) 559-2956 or by visiting our website at www.trikappatourofhomes.com.
Tickets will be available for purchase on tour weekend for $15 adult and $6 child at the Tour Headquarters – the Madison Presbyterian Church located at 202 Broadway. Tickets are good all three days of the tour weekend, so visitors may view the homes at their leisure.
