Pat McGlennen has announced he will retire as chief of the Worthville Volunteer Fire Department at the end of March.

McGlennen, a crane operator with Flour-Daniels, said he is resigning because he is soon being transferred to Harrodsburg for six years.

“I cannot in good faith continue to keep up with the fire department,” he said, adding he has served the department for 10 years. For 30 months, I’ve worked six or seven days a week and I’m tired.”

An informational meeting for all current and former department and auxiliary members is 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at the firehouse.
