On July 5, the Carrollton Woman’s Club began its 97th year. Members met at 7 p.m. at Pat Perkins’ place on Seminary St. Hostess for the evening was Mary Ann Carrico-Mitchell who presided. Karen Claiborne, Vice-Governor for the Fifth District had a program comparing Carrollton Women’s Club in the beginning in 1914, to today in 2011. The role of women in the community was very different from today as more women stayed at home, and there were as many as 65 members in the club back then.
