Facing a significant loss in revenue, Milton City Commission is proposing increases for its water and sewer services.
Mayor Donnie Oakley told commissioners during a special budget meeting Tuesday, May 5, that the city likely will receive $36,000 less than anticipated from its insurance premium tax. Many small cities have established the tax, which is paid by the insurance companies based on the number of residents who carry policies. The tax is something like a fee charged to out-of-town companies who do business within the city limits.
