Murder/suicide suspected in Gallatin deaths

An apparent murder/suicide Friday is under investigation in Gallatin County.

Officials say Ralph Michael Utley, 37, and his toddler son were found shot to death in Utley’s Campbell Road home when deputies responded to a domestic violence call at 9:33 p.m. Campbell Road is located in the portion of Ghent just over the Carroll County line with Gallatin.

The Gallatin County Coroner Jack Hughes pronounced both the father and his 2½-year-old son dead an hour later.
