I am greatly concerned for our nation, our communities and our way of life. In today’s world, there is a tremendous lack of direction, a lack of truth and Godly respect.
This all can be traced back to when our nation began to wander from the truth, direction and respect from God’s word. Today we live in a society that puts little to no value on the word of God. On top of that, many today believe that it’s just a book that’s out-of-date, irrelevant to today’s culture, or just a book full of ancient stories.
The truth is, we are not looking toward God and his word. We live in a world that does not know right from wrong, our society struggles to understand what a healthy marriage looks like or how children are to be raised.
As a result, we have 40 percent of children being born out of wedlock, 50 percent of all marriages tragically ending in divorce and 41 percent of all children being raised in homes where the father is not present. Rampant drug, alcohol and substance abuse are destroying the fabric of our society.
Facing fiscal and moral collapse at every angle from our house to the White House, we continue to suffer. Why is this?
We have forgotten we are in a battle.
We have forgotten that there is an enemy in this world and that his plan is to “kill, steal and destroy.”
We have forgotten what this great nation was built upon.
John 10:10 says that Jesus came “to give us life and live more abundantly.” God’s plan for you and I is to submit and surrender our lives to him. He loves us so unconditionally that words fail to express it. Jesus has given us authority and power thru his spirit and his word. God has given us his armor and equipment to win in this life. The devil has been defeated by Jesus – you and I are already victorious through Christ.
So why are we where we’re at? We have lost our direction, our heart for God’s truth, our sense of purpose. The Bible says that in the “last days” that we would see errors. 2 Timothy 3:1-9 tells us that in these times, “perilous times will come, men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. Having a form of godliness but denying it power.”
The apostle Paul warns Timothy to be looking for these signs. We are here. What God described 2,000 years ago is now in our land, our country and our culture and community.
But it’s not too late; God always has a plan of restoration and it’s up to us to see it through.
Living for, learning from and being a light for Jesus in a dark world, we must be contenders for the faith. Jude 3-4 tells us to “contend earnestly for the faith.” The faith that was delivered to the saints, the faith in the cross, the faith in Christ’s blood, and the faith in his resurrection.
We must fight for, stand on and continue to preach, teach, and demonstrate the faith.
So, as Christians, and Americans who believe in our savior Jesus Christ, who raised up this great nation, lets stand and contend for the faith. Our children and grandchildren are depending on us.
