Argument over dog leads to shooting

A Bedford man was treated for a gunshot wound in a Louisville hospital after an argument escalated between him and another man at a party Friday, July 16, at 1010 U.S. 42 East in Bedford.

Michael Webb, public information officer for Kentucky State Police Post 5, said that Kevin Hulsey of Bedford shot William Smith, also of Bedford, in the left leg with a 12-guage shotgun after accusing Smith of shooting his dog. Hulsey, 24, was charged with first-degree assault, a Class B felony, and is being housed in Carroll County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond. Webb said alcohol was involved, and said officers found no evidence that any dog had been shot in the area.
