God’s Special Little Hearts and the Owen County Homemakers will host the ninth annual Walk for Awareness of Congenital Heart Defects event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Owenton First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 213 North Main Street in Owenton, Ky. The event is free to attend.

A special recognition walk for CHD survivors and families of angels will be held at 3 p.m.

Vendors will be on hand, donating a portion of their proceeds to God’s Special Little Hearts, and food will be served throughout the day. Children’s activities will include an inflatable slide, face painting and crafts. Live entertainment will be performed by local gospel singers/groups. There also will be a silent auction.

All donations to God’s Special Little Hearts are tax deductible and all proceeds from the event will go to help CHD families in the tri-state area with fuel costs, meal tickets and hotel stays, according to the Facebook event. The group also mails out care packages across the United States to families with a child or adult with a congenital heart defect.
