“Our main concern is the safety of the children. All the family and everyone involved is in our prayers. The sheriff’s office is available if anyone needs anything. We’re just keeping everyone in our prayers during this hard time. I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and concerns. That’s what’s great about living in a small community, and I’m proud to be the sheriff of Carroll County, knowing that everyone comes together during such a tough time.”

Sheriff Jamie Kinman

Carroll County Sheriff’s Office

“Our agency responded. We tried to assist with the rescue of these children and give them the help they needed via ambulance or the helicopters. It’s a very tough situation to deal with and respond to because we know the majority of the parents and most of these children and to see that age a child being hurt, being scared is really emotionally draining on you.”

Chief Michael Willhoite

Carrollton Police Department

“A tragic bus accident has occurred involving children enrolled in the Carroll County School District. The accident is still under investigation by local police authorities and school district personnel. At present, we are most concerned about the children involved and their families. Counselors and administrators have been present at area hospitals with families of some of the children involved in the accident. The school district will have counselors available tomorrow at all of the district schools.”

Superintendent Lisa James

Carroll County Schools

“We are very proud of our staff and their rapid response and care of the patients that were brought to the hospital.”

Chief Executive Officer Kanute Rarey

Carroll County Memorial Hospital

“It’s a tragedy and a lot of families are going to need some prayers.”

Carroll County Judge-Executive Harold “Shorty” Tomlinson
