The Carroll County High School Panthers baseball program will pay tribute to Bob Coots on Saturday, May 22. Panther Field will play host to the first annual Carroll County Baseball Alumni Game in memory of Coots.

“He was a great member for the program, the community and friend to us all,” Panther Head Coach Jay Jones said in an email.

Panther Field will host a full day of activities with the 31st District junior varsity tournament getting underway at 10 a.m. with Carroll County facing Owen County. Henry and Gallatin counties will battle at 12:30 p.m. The championship game will commence at 3 p.m.

“At the conclusion of the tournament, the field will be open to Carroll County alumni, family and friends for batting practice and an opportunity to knock the rust off,” Jones said. “Carroll County baseball invites anyone to come out and play, former players, friends of the baseball program and parents of players.”

The Coots foundation donated $2,000 dollars to the baseball program that went to the construction of the facility, Jones said.

“Coach Coots was always trying to build the program and this is

the start of a fundraising event that will take place every year,” Jones said. “We will be taking donations at the gate, we will be providing concession stand items as well as uniform tops to all players.”

Anyone who plans to participate in the event should contact Coach Jones by calling (502) 525-0236.
