Carroll County hosted six other teams at their one and only home meet of the season Tuesday, September 15 on their home course at General Butler State Park.

Cross Country is an interesting and almost cruel sport and when participants cross the finish line they are often completely spent and sometimes sick or in tears. It is both a team and an individual sport and is one of the most grueling to participate in.

As a team the varsity girls beat Owen County, but lost to perennial powerhouses Walton Verona and Trimble County. The first Carroll County runner to cross the finish line was Brittany Arvin in 12th place with a time of 25:08.4 for the 5K run. As a team the total time was 2:14:14.90 for an average of 26:50.98.

Micah Jones finished first on the boys squad in 15th place with a time of 20:47.3 with Ben Tingle right behind him in 16th place with a time of 20:59.1.  Unfortunately, Jacob Griffin became ill during the race and had to drop out leaving the Panthers with less than five runners on their team. Many runners also play soccer and had to leave the meet to participate in the soccer game against Gallatin County, which they won 3-2.
