The Panthers were eliminated from the first round of the Eighth Region Class A tournament on Wednesday, Jan. 19. In a game played at Owen County, Carroll was upended by Trimble County by a score of 49-41. Carroll senior Ethan Stewart led the Panthers with 25 points.
The two teams have each defeated the other once, with Trimble falling at Carroll 56-51 in the Raiders’ season opener on Dec. 2. Trimble advanced to play Eminence in the Class A second round last night. Carroll and Trimble will square off for a third time on Feb. 1 at Bedford.
In other action the Panthers dropped another seven-point decision at Kentucky Country Day on Monday, Jan. 24. The 56-49 loss was Carroll’s second in three games with a seven point deficit at the final horn. They fell to Cooper 45-38 on Jan. 13.
Carroll County will try to end a seven-game losing streak Friday when they return to the friendly confines of Panther Gym to face Owen County. The 6 p.m. tipoff is the opening game of a varsity double-header as Carroll County’s Lady Panthers will entertain Owen’s Lady Rebels in the 7:30 p.m. nitecap.
Owen (11-4) handed the Panthers their first loss of the season back on Dec. 9.
On Saturday, the Panthers will take on Eminence in the 7:30 p.m. nitecap of another varsity double-header. The girls’ varsities will tip off at 6 p.m.
