Carroll County took runnerup honors in the Cardinal Classic Baseball Tournament, held at Nelson County High School over the weekend.

The Panthers defeated host Nelson County 8-7 in their first round game, but fell short to tournament champion Central Hardin 6-4 in the title game. Central Hardin had defeated Nelson County 2-0 to reach the final.

Weather conditions have played havoc with the Panthers’ schedule as games on Monday with Louisville Male, and Tuesday with Franklin County were washed out. The game at Louisville Male has been rescheduled for this evening.

Thursday will be Senior Night at Panther Field as the Panthers host South Oldham. Carroll County will finish up the regular season Friday, May 21, at Highlands.

Carroll opens 31st District Tournament play Monday, May 24, facing Owen County at Owenton. The game is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
