Work is set to begin May 1 on a pavement repair project on Park Avenue in Carrollton.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 6 Office announced in a news release that the work will create a new two-way left turn lane that will serve the entrance to Carroll County High School.
“This project, from Fisher Avenue extending to just east of Shuerman Avenue, will include pavement surface rehabilitation as well as adding a two way left turn lane,” said Rob Hans, Chief District Engineer for Department of Highways District 6, in Covington, “when finished, this section of roadway will be more durable and will provide a safer and smoother ride for all those who travel through this area.”
Hinkle Contracting Company of Paris, Ky., was awarded the low-bid contract of $344,328 for this project.
Crews will begin removing the center median and build the center 2-way left turn lane. Lane closures and traffic control will be in place on weekends beginning Fridays at 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following Monday. Weekday construction will not involve lane closures, but motorists should be aware of crews and equipment throughout the project.
There will be no work scheduled for race weekend at the Kentucky Speedway over June 27-29 or over the Fourth of July weekend.
The completion date for the project is Aug. 1.
