In 2009, the Camera and Imaging Product Association (CIPA) reported digital camera sales of 105.9 million units which was down 11.6% from 2008. CIPA projected sales in 2010 to be up to 109 million units. If my math is correct then they have sold over 330 million units in the past 3 years. This doesn't include the cameras sold as part of your telephone.
With all the digital clicking going on pictures appear everywhere, from sharing sites such as flickr to social media sites like facebook. You will see pictures of just about everything (and sometimes of things you wish you hadn't seen). Some are great, some are blurry, some are funny and some make you scratch your head and say what is that growing out of their head.
To help the growing legion of photographers there are several activities being offered the week of November 15-20.
First, the Carrollton Photography Club (CPC) will meet on Monday, November 15, at 7:00 PM at the Carroll County Extension Office. Ed Reinke, a photographer for the Associated Press, will be our guest speaker. Ed has traveled quite a bit with his job and I asked him to share what processes he goes through to find the picture that he wants and share examples. I'm excited to hear what he has to say.
CPC meets the third Monday of the month at 7:00 PM except for December. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will add you the email list that receives information on a regular basis.
The second event will be a "Tips for Better Holiday Pictures" workshop on Saturday, November 20, at 10:00 AM at the Carroll County Extension Office. There will roughly 10-12 tips shared on capturing more interesting holiday pictures.
Hope to see you at the programs and happy shutter bugging!
