This week will be a special focus on Project Child Find/504 in our community. These are projects to make sure that every child form birth thru 21 years of age are getting services/resources in all their developmental areas to become successful in life.
The Carroll County School District has a Head Start program that works with children birth through age 4 and special education services for students ages 3 thru 21.
This program is similar to special education program, since it has 504 forms for students, who also have eligibility for a disability.
Usually a 504 child/youth doesn’t need direct services, like most of our special education students, but benefit from having accommodations to succeed in their educational placement.
There always has to be an adverse effect to a child’s education in both special education and 504. Carroll County Public Schools provide 504 plans to students who qualify for them to be successful in their educational placement.
If you suspect your child or someone you know have special needs please contact the Carroll County Board of Education’s Director of Special Education, Janice Chilton at (502) 732-7070. This is confidential information and will be reviewed.
