A group of longtime Carrollton-based Special Olympics Kentucky volunteers are organizing a golf outing to help increase funding for the organization. The event – “Puttin’ for Gold Golf Classic” – will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, beginning with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. at Perry Park Golf Resort in Owen County.

The cost to participate is $100 per golfer and the event is limited to 18 four-person teams. The tournament fee includes golf, cart, a goody bag and a buffet dinner.

Event sponsorships are available in amounts ranging from $50 to sponsor the practice tee up to $1,500 for a Gold Level sponsorship.

The event is being sponsored by a group of volunteers that have for more than 25 years helped to organize the program’s State Winter Games. The group first came together as part of the Carrollton Dow Corning plant’s support of Special Olympics.

All proceeds from the Puttin’ for Gold Golf Classic will go to Special Olympics Kentucky.
