Relay for Life pageant supporters are thanked

-A A +A

Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank a number of individuals who helped make the Relay for Life Pageants 2012 a great success. With everyone’s help, “Team Robbins” raised nearly $5,000.
First, I would like to thank every contestant for entering our pageants, without you the event would have been impossible. I hope that everyone had a great time and enjoyed being a contestant; the judges had mentioned what a difficult decision it was to choose the court for each category. I hope that every contestant gained experience and a fun, enjoyable time at the pageants. We hope to have you again next year

Next, I would like to thank the parents of those participants that were able to let their child enter. This takes a lot of patience, time commitment, and sometimes puts an emotional toll on you, so thank you for enduring a somewhat stressful, yet seemingly enjoyable time for your children and for Relay for Life.

I would like to thank every member of Team Robbins for all of their dedication,  commitment, and hard work that each and every member put forth in order to make the pageants a success. The monthly meetings, the preparation, the fundraising, and the stress that each member has gone through is truly a sign of dedication on everyone’s part, and I thank you for enduring all of this for a successful and long day of pageantry. So, thanks to Annie Valentine, Christina Schadler, Nancy Robbins, Debbie Roth, Joe Roth, Josh Roth, Tonya Perkins, James McGlennen, Tiffany McGlennen, Lisa Robbins, Rebecca Chandler, Brandon Davis, Beth McIntrye, Frances Brooks, Portia Foster, Barbara Lee, Denia Stoops, Christin Stoops, Hayley Franklin, Ben Franklin, Crystal Franklin, Gina Phillips, Kim Phillips (Members) Benjamin Franklin, Austin Harlow and Reagan Schadler (Junior Members) for all of your hard work that you have put forth thus far. Especially to Joe and Debbie Roth and Annie Valentine for all of your hard work, it definitely doesn’t go unnoticed, and to Joe’s company for donating all of the awards for the pageants.

I would also like to thank those members of the Carroll County Relay for Life Team that made an extra effort to go above and beyond expectations to come out and lend a hand to our Team Members. Thanks to Beth Toombs for managing the “People’s Choice Table,” and thanks to Chuck and Vicki Sampson for their help as well.

Another big thank you goes out to all of the vendors that came out to support the pageants. Each vendor graciously agreed to donate all or a portion of the money raised that day to Team Robbins. Vendors that were present were: Tammy Barry with Pampered Chef & Bowtastic, Lita Herell with Purse Heaven and Frances Brooks with Tupperware. Also to Pauline Kindoll and the Carroll County Middle School for providing the place and help with the pageant.

I would also like to thank an important member of the community and a committee member of Relay for Life: April Harmon. Without the gracious time that was spent on the pageants, the event wouldn’t have been possible. Also, thanks for the undying support and time and energy that you used for the pageants.

Next, I would like to thank our judges for their time and expertise. Our judges for the day were Sharon Hansel, Kaleesa Archer, Tonya Pike and Syndey Sefton from Switzerland County, Ind., and Candi Broughton from Shelby County, Ky. They did a wonderful job judging all categories and said that they had a great time, and felt very welcomed.

On a more personal note, I would like to thank my friends and family for their support and time that was put forth with the pageants. Thank you to my parents, Ben and Crystal Franklin, little brother Benjamin Franklin for helping with decorations, furniture moving, errands and other tasks. A special thanks goes out to my boyfriend, Kevin Gault for his support and energy used on the pageant. Also, thanks to my other friends: Tonya Perkins, Shawnique Richardson, and Josh Roth.  Thank you to Tonya and Josh for donating gift certificates from “Crystal and Jules” Restaurant for the judges.

Thanks to the title holders from last year: Miss Teen Relay for Life 2011 Courtney Powell and Miss Relay for Life 2011 Celess Parson for giving out the awards, you all did a great job.
Other donations that I would like to point out and thank those individuals for: Craig’s Do It Center, Miss Priss Prom and Pageant Boutique Owner Elizabeth Cruse and to Cathy Himes who is the official photographer of Miss Bluegrass Area, Miss Kentucky International and Miss Kentucky Teen America and Cornerstone Floral.

A last thank you is being sent out to everyone that came to watch the pageants. I would like to thank everyone that attended The Relay for Life Pageants 2012 and helped to make it a huge success. I would also like to thank everyone that believed in my idea to put this pageant on in the first place, it started as an idea and blossomed into a reality.

Our goal was to at least go beyond what we raised last year, which was almost $3,000. We went above and beyond my goal, and that makes me truly proud, it also makes me eager to go even further for next year. My experiences as a pageant coordinator will never be forgotten, and I will continue this tradition every year, in hopes of the event to become bigger and better.
