The Rev. Douglas Bell, 70

FORTVILLE, Ind. – The Rev. Douglas “Ducky” Bell, 70, formerly of Madison, Ind., died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at his residence in Fortville.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 10,  Bell Mortuary and Creamatory, Shangrila Chapel, 1512 W. US Hwy. 52, Finly, Ind. A graveside service is at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton, Ky., with the Rev. Terry Long officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

Mr. Bell was born June 24, 1938, in Bedford, Ky., to the late Carlos A. and Ethel Mae (Banks) Bell.

He was a retired ordained minister, and was a school bus driver for Southwestern Schools in Hanover, Ind.

He served in the Kentucky and Indiana National Guard for eight years.

He was founder of the former Rising Sun, Ind., Apostolic Church and preached for 17 years. He was a member of the Lawrence Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Lawrence, Ind.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Robertson) Bell of Fortville, Ind.; two daughters, Belinda (Alan) Hartwell of St. Paul, Ind., and Michelle (Kirk) Neace of  Lawrenceburg, Ind.; two sons, Ray Bell of Noblesville, Ind., and Jeff (Lynnette) Bell of New Palestine, Ind.; two brothers, Delmar Bell of San Antonio, Texas, and Roy J. Bell of Madison; two sisters, Nellie (Bill) Merrill of Cumberland, Ind., and Beatta (Lou) Jenkins of Madison; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Dee and Donald Bell, his twin; and three sisters, Reatta Aldridge, Ruth Pearl Bell and Thelma Bell.
