MADISON, Ind. – Ruby Ann Couch Day, 67, of Madison died Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, May 16, at Morgan and Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, with Bro. John Davis officiating. Visitation is 9 a.m. Wednesday until the service. Interment will be in the Brooksburg Cemetery in Brooksburg, Ind.
Mrs. Day was born May 11, 1945, to the late Estil and Ida Robertson Couch in Mistletoe, Ky. She attended Worthville School in Carroll County and was baptized in 1962 at the White’s Run Baptist Church, where she was a member. She married Emmett R. Day on June 23, 1962, in Carrollton. This happy union was blessed with two sons.
Mrs. Day was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, raising flowers, sewing and attending auctions. She worked as a cook at the E.O. Muncie School cafeteria and was employed by the Madison Consolidated School System for 27 years. She had retired from the King’s Daughters Hospital Hilltop Clinic, where she was a housekeeper for 13 years.
She had fought a hard battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband, Emmett R. Day; two sons, Doug (Kim) Day and Brian (Sarah) Day all of Madison; and four grandchildren, Taylor, Emily, Reed and Gabe Day of Madison; four sisters, Pat Sharon and Bonnie Hardin, both of Bedford, Clara (Herby) Arvin of Ghent, Donna (Joey) Mershall of Bedford; two brothers, Tommy Couch and Michael Couch, both of Carrollton; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Her parents, Estil and Ida Robertson Couch, and her brothers, Danny and Dennis Couch, preceded her in death.
