Anniversary

Hugh Shobert from Norman, Okla. was in the Army and stationed at Fort Knox when a friend arranged a blind date for Hugh with Leoma Lawrence who lived and operated her own beauty shop in St. Matthews, near Louisville. They were married by the justice of the peace on Dec. 25, 1945, in Jeffersonville, Ind.
Leoma sold her beauty shop  and they drove to Fort Ord in Monterey Bay, Calif. where Hugh was then stationed. Hugh was discharged from the Army, February 6, 1946.
They returned to Louisville for a short time then moved to Carrollton, Ky. to be closer to family. They have lived in Carrollton for approximately 45 years. Hugh retired from the federal government out of Louisville.
Leoma worked part time at the Top Hat Beauty Salon in Carrollton and they lived on Hwy 36 where they had a river front home. They loved to travel and spent a lot of time on their boat water skiing on the Ohio River. Both are 98 years old and enjoy being around family.
