Shooting sports program begins

-A A +A

The Carroll County 4-H program is so blessed to have such great volunteers.

This week, I want to focus on the shooting sports program.  This program has five disciplines — archery, shotgun, rifle, target rifle and pistol.

Tim Tritsch is now the shooting sports coordinator and has a Facebook page to keep everyone in Carroll County abreast of the events.

Four people gave up their weekend recently to be certified to coach our 4-H members. Bob Giles will be teaching shotgun along with Tim Tritsch and Dave Huesman, who were certified last year. Heather Watts will be coaching with Dave Watts in the area of archery.  Cody Human will be coaching pistol. Tom Dapron will be coaching target rifle. Derrick Willis, Brett Froman and Dave Watts will be coaching rifle.

Without these dedicated adults, the shooting sports program would not be available.

We are so excited about having our entire shooting sports program on the property that is owned by Michael Walls and Cody Human. We are planning on starting the first week end of April.

We will be shooting on Wed-nesday night as well as Friday night, Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Shooting sports members need to attend a meeting at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 16, at the Carroll County Extension office to elect officers and ask questions.
