A Worthville man was injured after his single-wide trailer caught fire early Sunday morning.

Phillip Botkins, 1931 Happy Hollow Lane, was transported to Carroll County Memorial Hospital by his neighbor, Steve Adams, according to Worthville Volunteer Fire Chief Ernie Courtney. The pair was no longer on scene when firefighters arrived, he said.

Courtney said he was told by Kentucky State Police that Botkins had been flown to University Hospital in Louisville, but he did not have any information on his injuries.

Adams called Carroll County Dispatch to report the fire at 2:07 a.m. Sunday. Worthville and Ghent Fire Protection District responded.

Courtney said the front half of the trailer was fully involved upon their arrival.

The fire rekindled at 7:05 a.m., and the trailer was deemed a total loss, he said.

“As of this time, (the cause of the fire) is unknown,” Courtney said. However, he noted that the front bedroom, where it appeared Botkins was sleeping, also had a kerosene heater in it.

Courtney expressed his appreciation to Ghent Fire Protection District for bringing its tanker truck on scene to assist.
