Special Olympics thanks local support

-A A +A

Carroll County Special Olympics has had a very successful 2011-12 sports season. In the fall we participated in bowling, both at regional and state level. In January we went to Perfect North Slopes for Winter Games, competing in alpine skiing and snowshoeing. Track season consisted of competition at Area 4 Games at St.X High School which cumulated with Summer Games at EKU, the first weekend of June.

We could not exist without our community support. Deep appreciation goes to Striker Lanes in Vevay, Ind. and NAS for supporting our bowlers and Dow Corning for continued support of our ski team. Thanks to all who supported our catalog sales last fall and the Polar Bear Plunge in February. For the plunge, we raised money for Special Olympics Kentucky and we received a portion back of the money we raised. Special mention goes to the faculty, staff and students of Carroll County High School for their continued support, especially in raising money for the plunge.

We appreciate those who currently supporting our Harley Raffle Ticket Sales, which ends July 25.

Finally I offer a few more specific thanks. Thanks to Dan and Lori, owners of Sav-A-Lot, for supporting our track team with new uniforms, my friend Pat for giving us access to her van and my new track volunteer, Mr. Stephens of CCHS.

My biggest thanks goes to the parents of the athletes whose support is endless from getting athletes to practice, fundraising and chaperoning.
