Volleyball defeats Grant 3-1
Carroll County volleyball defeated Grant County on the road 3-1 Wednesday, Aug. 15. Senior Megan Harris served 28 serves with 3 aces and also had 10 digs. Senior Caitlyn Burke had 8 kills.
Girls soccer falls 6-1
Senior Lidia Jimenez scored the first Lady Panther soccer goal of the season on the road Wednesday, Aug. 15 against Cooper High School. Unfortunately, the team lost 6-1.
Panthers finish second in soccer tourney
The boys soccer team went 1-1 Saturday, Aug. 18 to finish in second place in the Owen County Invitational. Cody Damron, Michael Hall, Taylor Byrd and Brandon Stewart were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Panthers defeated Holmes in game one, 5-0. They took on Owen in game two, and the teams were tied 0-0 at the half. However, with about 15 minutes left, Owen County scored the first goal, followed by another off of a penalty kick, 2-0. Carroll gave up one more goal, and head coach Ben Crutcher decided to put in his backup unit. He said the subs played well and even scored a goal. Alex Burns set up a cross for his brother Michael for a header in front of the goal. Final score, 3-1.
Volleyball remains undefeated
The Lady Panthers defeated the Calvary Christian Cougars Monday night at home, 3-1. Sophomore Kelly Layton had 10 kills, senior Caitlyn Burke served 25 times with 6 aces, and senior Megan Harris had 14 digs.
The volleyball team is now 4-0 and played on the road at Henry County Tuesday night. Results were unavailable by press time. The varsity squad will compete in the Class A Regional Tournament Saturday at Eminence, biding for a spot in the state tournament held at Eastern Kentucky University. The Lady Panthers will return home Monday night for a freshman/JV/varsity match against Walton-Verona, starting at 5:30 p.m.
