basketball camp returns
Youngsters looking for something to do during Spring Break can have fun and improve their basketball skills at the same time. Hoop Shooters Basketball Camp will be held at Kathryn Winn Primary’s gym Saturday, April 2 through Monday, April 4 from 4-6:30 p.m. each day. Boys and girls ages six to 12 are encouraged to attend.
The cost for this year’s camp is $25 plus three cans of pet food, with sibling discounts available. Proceeds will benefit the Carroll County Chapter of Relay for Life and Carroll County Animal Support. Every camper will receive a camp T-shirt with admission. Also, a camp store will be available each afternoon as a convenience to campers and spectators.
The camp, now in its 13th year, will focus on fundamental basketball skills, team play, sportsmanship and a lot of fun playing the game.
For information, contact Chuck Roberts at (502) 732-9323, (502) 732-9621 or (502) 525-8540.
The Carroll County High School Panthers’ baseball team is holding a six-week instructional camp for players at both the beginner and advanced levels. Campers at the beginning level need to be in the Tee-ball ability range (about 7 years old).
The camp began on March 13, but will continue on the following Sundays at the Carroll County Conditioning Center behind the vocational school: March 20 and 27 and April 3, 10 and 17. Instruction for beginners will be from 2-3:30 p.m., while the advanced instruction will be from 3:30-5 p.m.
CCHS head coach Jay Jones thanked the 20 children who attended the first day of camp and wanted to remind others that it is not too late to come and work on their skills.
Registration is still welcome at a prorated rate. The original fee was $60 per child for six sessions of personalized instruction. There are five sessions remaining.
Participants will also receive a Carroll County T-shirt. CCHS coaches and players will serve as camp instructors.
