Srouder, Burgin, Burns advance to State Meet

Carroll County High School track and field athletes Ashley Srouder and Tre Burgin earned automatic bids to the Class A State Meet.


Michael Burns earned the final at-large bid for the state meet. The meet will be held Saturday, May 18 at the University of Louisville.

The Panthers competed in the Class A Region 5 meet Saturday, May 11 in Danville. Srouder finished in second place in shot put, while Burgin finished in second place in the pole vault.

Burns finished in third place in the 400-meter dash to earn his spot.

Taylor Byrd re-aggravated a previous injury for a very close fifth place in the same 400-meter dash race. Stevie Ogburn placed fourth in triple jump and as a part of the four-by-100 meter relay team, along with Sierra Martinez, Jessie Smith and Jadyn Bailey.

Cody Osborne narrowly missed advancing to State in both the pole vault (fourth place) and 300 meter hurdles (fifth place).

Head coach Joe Creager said the three Panther State Qualifiers look forward to seeing a large crowd of supporters next Saturday in Louisville.
