It was a day of ties on the links at the annual Carrollton Rotary Club/United Industrial Piping Golf Scramble Wednesday at General Butler State Resort Park.

Sixteen six-man teams took part in the event that is divided into morning and afternoon flights to raise money for the Rotary Club’s scholarship programs.

In the morning flight, the Mark Smith State Farm team was the clear winner shooting a 52 in the 18-hole event. Fillin’ The Blank and Butler Park teams ended their day tied at 59 for second place.

In a putt-off, the Fillin’ The Blank crew won with the closest putt on the course’s practice green.

The afternoon flight saw an even closer contest as the Todd Grace Farm Bureau/McNeal’s, Earl Floyd Ford and Essroc Cement teams each shot a 53, creating a three-way tie.

Another putt-off was held with the three teams to not only determine the winner, but also the team in second place.

Testing their putting skills on the No. 4 green, the Todd Grace Farm Bureau/McNeal’s team came out on top with the closest putt. The Earl Floyd Ford team had the second closest putt to take the number two position.

Other winners from the day included the competition for closest to the pin and women’s longest drive on both flights.

Tom Belcher picked up the award for closest to the pin on the morning flight, while Gerald Ballinger took the prize in the afternoon.

Erin O’Conner claimed both the morning and afternoon prizes for the women’s longest drive.
