State police raising funds for Trooper Island

 Kentuck State Police Post 5 will host the 2013 Trooper Island Golf Scramble June 12 at the Henry County Country Club in New Castle.

Trooper Island is a summer camp for children from the counties of Oldham, Henry, Trimble, Carroll, Gallatin and Owen. It is a non-profit organization started in 1965 to invest in the youth of Kentucky that operates solely on private contributions.

Registration is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. The cost is $60 per person or $240 per team. It includes green fees, cart and lunch. The fee also includes a chance to win a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro. There will be prizes for first, second and third place.

Space is limited to the first 36 teams.

Post 5 also is selling chances on an EZGO golf cart. Chances are $10 and proceeds benefit Trooper Island. The golf cart has a lift kit, all-terrain tires, AM/FM stero with CD player, canvas zip-up cover, gun racks and back seat installed.

The drawing will be held Sunday, July 28 at 2:45 p.m. at the Trooper Island Charity Shoot at the Elk Creek Hunt Club in Owenton. Participants do not have to be present to win. The winner is responsible for all tax and license fees.
