Daniel Libero, 28, of North Chesterfield, Va., was traveling northbound on Hwy. 227 at 4:35 p.m. Saturday in a 2008 Pontiac G6 GT when he drove straight across the road and into freshly poured concrete, according to Carrollton Police Department. Crews with Hinkle Contracting Co., had been working weekends since early June to replace the intersection of U.S. 42 and Hwys. 227/36 (Park Avenue) with new concrete. Libero told Carrollton Police Sgt. Tim Mitchell that he was not paying attention and was attempting to go to the Valero gas station on the other side of the road. Libero was cited for reckless driving, disregarding traffic regulations and having no insurance.
