Fremin wins $1,500 in Dream Out Loud contest

A Carroll County first-grader is one of nine Kentucky students to win a $1,500 college savings accounts with the Kentucky Education Savings Plan Trust through its Dream Out Loud Challenge.

Sophie Fremin, a first-grader at Kathryn Winn Primary, won the challenge for her message answering the question, “How will I change the world after college?” Each winner’s school also receive s$500.

More than 1,400 entries were submitted from across the state. The contest inspired students to imagine how a college education would help them make the world better and also motivated parents to think about how to save for a college education to support their children’s dreams.

Contest entries included children who wanted to be doctors, veterinarians, teachers, pilots and fashion designers.

Clay Cauley honored for public relations efforts

Clay Cauley of Carrollton, a Western Kentucky University student, was part of the 2010 Imagewest team from WKU’s School of Journalism and Broadcasting, ecently recognized for its public relations efforts at the 25th annual Parthenon Awards in Nashville, Tenn.

The event is hosted by the Nashville chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and acknowledges excellence in all aspects of public relations and communications.

Imagewest is a student-run advertising and public relations agency providing students with real-world experience on a local, national and international level.
