First grader Jereme York and the rest of the Kathryn Winn Primary students learned how to crawl on their bellies like a snake if there is smoke in the room and to touch the door with the back of their hand to feel for heat during fire safety class last Wednesday and Thursday. Members of the Carrollton Fire Department are teaching 20-minute fire prevention classes each week for 10 weeks to the students. Topics include teaching the children how to report a fire, how to identify home fire hazards, how to cool a burn and how to develop a home escape plan.
