A tax increase and bond refinancing were topics of the Aug. 16 meeting of the Trimble County Board of Education.

The board voted 3-1 in favor of a 4 percent increase in real estate and personal property tax rates, raising the rate from 58.6 cents per $100 of assessed value to 61 cents. Bob Waggoner of School Management Associates said the levy should generate $281,679 in additional revenue for the district, should it collect 100 percent of the taxes it is entitled to.
