Tier I status is what all schools nationally are trying to avoid under the federal No Child Left Behind law, but it seems being there for a year or two isn’t the worst that could happen.
Trimble County Middle School recently received a federal grant for $113,000 to help teachers bridge the achievement gap on the CATS tests between students who receive free and reduced-priced lunches and those who don’t, said Rebecca Moore, the district’s director of federal programs for kindergarten through eighth-grade.
