Carroll County Park dawned bright and beautiful to welcomed folks with good walking shoes the last Saturday of September. Sixty walkers came out to “walk the talk” in support of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Walk for Kids’ Sake. Countless others throughout the area—individuals and churches, small business and corporate management—backed the walkers with generous financial donations. Money collected for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Carroll County totaled more than $10,000 at the end of the day.

The BBBS Board of Directors expresses sincere gratitude for all the people who are making it possible for children of our community to have the stability of an adult mentor, through walking, financial or in-kind support, membership on committees or as Big Brothers/Sisters.

Special thanks to the following sponsors who provided the lion’s share of support for this first annual walk-a-thon: Earl Floyd Ford, Family Worship Center, Kemper Construction, First National Bank, Kroger, Harper Oil, Kinman Chevrolet, Southern States, Welty Enterprise, Yamaha of Carrollton, Gerry Stafford, Mark Bates, Craig’s Inc. Glauber Sports, Taco Bell, Papa Johns, Dairy Queen of Milton, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Poet’s House of Ghent and Butler State Park.
