The Carroll County Panthers were in action for the first time this season last weekend. The Panthers competed at US Bank Arena in Maysville, Ky. at an indoor meet against 20 teams from across the state.

The Panthers had a great showing in their first meet with the girls’ team taking 9th place out of 19 teams behind a strong showing by sophomore Nora Fremin in the 55 meter dash (third place) and 55 meter hurdles (fourth place) and by senior MaryEsther Fremin in the long jump (fifth place), according to head coach Joe Creager.

The Panthers also had two strong showings from relay squads (one male and one female). Both teams finished just outside of the points, placing 13th in the 4x400 for the girls (sophomore Kaydee McCollum and 8th graders Kirsten Arvin, Kelly Layton and Megan Dasis) and 9th in the 4x800 for the boys (senior Franscisco Garcia, junior Ben Tingle, sophomore Austin Blankenship and freshman Taylor Byrd).

The Panthers will be in action the first Saturday in March at the Mason-Dixon Games in Louisville.
