Track competes at Henry

Sophomore Brandon Kruzan earned two first-place finishes in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles May 1, at Henry County. Along with host Henry County, Carroll County competed against Owen County, Trimble County, Frankfort and Eminence. Kruzan finished with a time of 16.56 seconds in the 110 meters and 47.02 seconds in the 300 meters.

Senior Michael Burns also earned a first place in the 400-meter dash (57.79 seconds). He also finished in third in the 200-meter dash (25.88 seconds) and fourth in the long jump (18 feet 4 inches).

In the girls’ competition, eighth-grader Bethany Kruzan came in first place in the 1600-meter run (6 minutes 25.24 seconds). Senior Sierra Martinez won second in the 800-meter run (3 minutes 2 seconds) and fourth in the 1600-meter run (7 minutes 4.25 seconds).

Senior Tre Burgin finished in second place in the pole vault (8 feet 6 inches). Freshman Malachi Corbin took third place in both of his field events, with a throw of 38 feet 7.5 inches in shot put and 114 feet 3 inches in discus. Junior Destiny Osborne took fourth place in both of her field events, with a throw of 26 feet 5 inches in shot put and 73 feet 10 inches in discus.

Freshman Lucas Gibbs took fifth place in the 100-meter dash (12.03), while sophomore Alex Jeffery took seventh place in the 1600-meter run (6 minutes 27.52 seconds).
