Ashley Srouder threw a season-best 27 feet 6.25 inches in the shot put, good enough for fifth place for Carroll County in a track meet Saturday, March 23 at Walton-Verona Sports Complex.
The Panthers competed against some of the best teams in the state, including a team from Dearborn, Mich., head coach Joe Creager said. Srouder was the only Panthers, male or female, to break the top 6 and earn points for the team.
There were nearly 20 teams in competition.
Brandon Franklin finished in ninth place in the shot put.
Stevie Ogburn finished in 11th place in the triple jump. Kayla Anderson finished in 13th place in the shot put. Cody Osborne finished in 14th place in the long jump, 15th place in the 110-meter hurdles and in 18th place in the 300-meter hurdles. Taylor Byrd finished in 15th place in the 400-meter dash. Destiny Osborne finished in 17th place in the discus throw.
The Panthers’ second scheduled home meet also was canceled due to weather conditions. The team will compete in the Oldham County All-Comers meet April 9. The fifth annual Carroll County Invite is April 12.
