Track has ‘great showing’ in rain

Despite the wind and the rain, Carroll County competed in Danville against Region 5A schools. 

The Lady Panthers were led by Nora Fremin, who finished second in the overall individual points competition by placing first in the high jump and as a member of the winning 4x100 meter relay team of herself, MaryEsther Fremin, Teila Winburn and Denee Lawrence. Nora Fremin also came in second in the 100 meter hurdles and the 100 meter dash. 

Chris Satterly also finished second in the overall individual points competition with first place in the high jump, 300 meter hurdles and as a member of the winning 4x200 meter relay team of himself, DAnthony Collins, Andy Sisenstein and Tyler Grant. Satterly also finished in second place in long jump. 

Carroll County did not compete in seven of the 16 events due to lack of participants. Nonetheless, the girls finished in third place and the boys finished in fourth place. 

“This was a great showing for our team and a wonderful preview for the Region 5A meet,” Head Coach Joe Creager said. The meet will be held at Tates Creek High School in Lexington on Saturday May 29 starting at 4:00 p.m.

The Panthers will compete in a home meet on Friday at 5:45 p.m. There are 12 girls teams and nine boys teams scheduled to compete.
