A Christman Sons and Farms tractor-trailer hauling a fertilizer mix of 28 percent nitrogen and water overturned on Hwy. 389 about a mile from the Carroll/Henry county line Friday, Feb. 28.

Tyler Davis, 18, of Prestonville was traveling on Hwy. 389 and went around a curve when his load shifted, causing the tractor-trailer to overturn, Kentucky State Police Public Information Officer Brad Arterburn said Tuesday. Davis was transported by Carroll County EMS to Carroll County Memorial Hospital for minor injuries and released, Arterburn said.

Carroll County Dispatch received a call about the incident at 10:30 a.m. and dispatched EMS, Westside Volunteer Fire Department and Carroll County Rescue. Firefighters washed the fertilizer off the road, while Rescue provided traffic control. Once the truck, trailer and what is left of the cargo was removed, firefighters would remove the soil underneath that was contaminated by diesel fuel and oil, Carroll County Emergency Management Director Ed Webb said.

Burrows Wrecker Service up righted the tractor-trailer. Kentucky State Police Trooper Matthew Whalen is leading the investigation.

Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky Commercial Vehicle Enforcement also responded to the incident.
