A Trimble County woman returned home Saturday, after representing Kentucky’s 4th District as an alternate delegate at last week’s 2008 Republican National Convention in Minneapolis, Minn. Congressman Geoff Davis proposed the opportunity for Kathi Whitten Proulx.

“I’ve had the time of my life,” Proulx wrote to the Trimble Banner from the convention.

Last Monday’s opening session was overshadowed by the damage of Hurricane Gustav in Louisiana and other parts of the Gulf Coast, but the event ended on a high note, Proulx said.

Proulx stayed at the Minneapolis Hyatt Regency Hotel for the event –– the same site where First Lady Laura Bush stayed before addressing Republicans at the convention.

“Since Mrs. Laura Bush was also staying at the Hyatt, the hotel was crawling with security – Secret Service, bomb-sniffing canine units, local police, hotel security,” Proulx said. “We had to wear our delegate credentials at all times to be able to come and go, and showing our room key card to get to the guest elevators.”
