Two Carrollton men were flown to University Hospital in Louisville after a single-vehicle incident Tuesday, Feb. 19. One remains in the hospital, while the other has been released.
The incident occurred at 11:54 p.m. on Hwy. 36. The Chrysler van, driven by Mark Fitzgerald, 34, ran off the road and struck an earthen embankment and overturned, according to Kentucky State Police Post 5 Public Information Officer Trooper Brad Arterburn.
Fitzgerald was trapped in the vehicle. After being extricated, he was transported by Carroll County EMS to Carroll County Memorial Hospital and flown to University Hospital by Air Methods.
The passenger, Christopher Skirvin, 36, was ejected from the vehicle and flown from the scene to U of L by Air Methods, Arterburn said.
Carroll County Rescue assisted on the scene. Trooper Brandon Maupin, an accident reconstructionist, is investigating the incident.
