Milton Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department's Labor Day weekend fish fry will be at Station No. 1 on the Milton Hilltop from 10:20 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fish sandwiches, hot dogs, baked beans, coleslaw, drinks and desserts will be sold. Door prizes will be given away.

Trimble County Semi-Annual Swap Meet will be at the Milton City Park starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The Swap Meet is celebrating its 19th year and 37th meet. The first was held Sept. 21, 1991.

Angel Food Ministries will take orders from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Milton Baptist Church. Menus have been distributed to Morgan’s, Midway and Riverside. Specials can now be purchased without purchasing items from the main menu. Any questions please call Kate Bowling at (502) 553-5889.

American Red Cross Blood Drive at Mt Byrd Christian Church, Milton from 2:30-6:30 p.m.

Trimble County Republican’s Potluck Supper will meet at the Bedford Library from 6:30-8 p.m. “Bring a dish and a friend!”

Grace Fellowship of La Grange meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Ramada Inn meeting room in Shelbyville.

Thursday, Sept. 10

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Indiana Department of Trans-portation officials will host a public meeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the new Milton Elementary School to address issues concerning the Milton-Madison Bridge Project. All area residents are invited.

Friday, Sept. 11

Trimble County Apple Festival in the Trimble County courthouse square Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday starts with an outside worship service at 11 a.m., with the festival continuing to 5 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 14

The Trimble County High School Class of 1970 will hold an organizational meeting at 5 p.m., Monday, September 14, at the Trimble County Public Library to plan for the class 40th anniversary reunion. Tentative plans are for the reunion to be held in conjunction with the annual Trimble County Alumni Banquet, scheduled for the last weekend in April 2010. Class members are needed to help plan the event and send invitations to classmates from out of the area. Sharon Rowlett is chairperson of the reunion planning committee. Milton City Commission meets at 7 p.m. at Milton City Hall on U.S. 421 North. The commission’s regular meeting was moved because of the public hearing set for the bridge project on Sept. 10.

Trimble Co. Historical Society will meet at 1 p.m. in the meeting room of the TC Public Library.

Tuesday, Sept. 22

JCTC Trimble County Adult Education offers the following free services: GED preparation, job skills upgrade, college preparation, brush up on academic skills, and Paraeducator Testing. The Learning Center is located behind Trimble County High School 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, Thursday evenings 5-7 p.m., and the first three Saturdays of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Evening classes are offered at Milton Christian Church on Mondays from 5-7 p.m. Family Literacy is offered during our evening hours.
