Carroll County High School senior Zach Wise is one of 56 players in the state selected to the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association’s preseason All-State team.

“Zach Wise is a special player. To my knowledge, the first ever pre-season All-State (from Carroll County),” head coach Jay Jones said.

While Wise plays mostly centerfield and pitches in relief, Jones is confident in his abilities to play any position. “I could put him anywhere, all nine slots, and not even look at him and know that things are going to be taken care of,” he said.

Wise had surgery on his non-throwing shoulder during the off-season for an injury Jones said he believes happened at the beginning of last season. He was uncertain, but thought Wise may have dislocated it during a slide. Despite the injury, Wise played in every game and never sat out an inning, Jones said. The head coach said Wise is feeling no pain now, and he looks for him to have a huge year.
