Officers elected for 2011

The Carrollton Woman’s Club met Tuesday, March 1, at the Carroll County Extension Office. Members enjoyed a pot-luck dinner and held the group’s annual business meeting.
Hostess Nancy Jo Grobmyer opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Nancy Ellis gave the blessing.
Grobmyer presided at the business meeting; eight members were present.
A nomination committee to elect a treasurer, secretary, vice president and president will be chaired by Mary Ann Carrico Mitchell. The club voted to do away with the offices of auditor and second vice president.
The Kentucky Federation of Womens Clubs state convention is April 14-16 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Lexington, Ky.
Karen Claiborne announced that the club had 120 percent in the club reports this year.
Flowers furnished by Grobmyer were given to Grace Angotti because of recent surgery.
On Thursday evening, 5th District Vice Gov. Karen Claiborne and members Sandra Thomas, Grobmyer and other 5th District club presidents met with state President Mary Alice Oldfield to elect a 5th District governor. Karen Moreland, past district governor of the Betty Carter Morgan Club, was elected to serve the next term.
In other news, Claiborne is showing her artwork at the Carroll County Public Library this month. The show is a guide for prospective art students featuring various examples of work that would be completed before a student earns an art degree.
A reception for Claiborne was held Monday, March 7, at the library.
